Tyson Ferguson

Robert Tyson Ferguson, 53, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away at EIRMC in Idaho Falls after a short health battle that sadly took the big man's life, a big man and our best friend, gone way too soon. Tyson, in every way, was larger than life, both in statue and in personality. To know Tyson was to love him. His bigger than life heart, infectious personality, and bear hugs that sometimes, quite literally, felt like being hugged by a bear. We sure will miss those big bear hugs!

Tyson was born September 1, 1972, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. His mother, Debra Woods Rumsey, and father, Robert Grizz Ferguson, welcomed the first of four children with Tyson. Tyson would tell you it's because the best always comes first.

Tyson grew up in Idaho Falls and attended elementary school at Dora Erickson, middle school at Claire E. Gale Junior High, and high school at Idaho Falls High School.

Tyson's greatest joys in life came in the form of his children. He loved his kids fiercely, and was always a proud Dad and became a smitten and loving grandfather. Tyson’s kids are Nathan Fitch of Rigby, Idaho, Austin Ferguson of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Andrew “Andy” Ferguson of Iona, Idaho, Braxton Kidd of Rigby, Idaho, Mailie Medina of Westminster, Colorado, Jordyn Oberhansley of Rigby, Idaho, Tyra McCallon of Iona, Idaho, and Destini “Bug” Blair of Idaho Falls, Idaho. While Tyson's greatest blessings were his kids, the one's that held the biggest piece of his heart were his grandkids, Kovu and Izaiah Robert!

Tyson had a deep love and admiration for his kids, grandkids, and two lifelong best friends of over 50 years, Tom Hardy and Troy Williams, two brothers from other mothers, who were more than friends, they were family not only to Tyson, but all of us. From his entire family, we love and cherish you both, and thank you for the wonderful support system you always were to Tyson, AKA Big Guy! Tyson's sweetheart and love of his life whom he made his life and home with is Kaylynne Blair, Tyson's true love and forever sweetheart. While they shared 10 years here on earth, the memories made, family that they shared, and love they have for each other and the family they created, you could simply say was as big as Tyson, and well, that was huge!

Tyson was an avid outdoors man. His heaven on earth was his own property in Gilmore, Idaho, where he could be found wood working, building furniture, and fishing at Meadow Lake. Tyson loved to fish, tie flies, and collect guns that he sadly lost on a boat wreck! Tyson was a jack of all trades, a handy man, and he had a long career in taking care of many residents with special needs whom he loved and adored, and they loved Tyson.

Tyson loved riding Harley's, his motorcycles, ATVs, 4-wheelers, collecting movies, action figures, and KISS memorabilia, as well as watching movies, (his favorite was The Notebook), and camping and fishing whenever possible. To see Tyson in his purest form, simply put, a rod in his hand and set him free in Gilmore. That’s no doubt where you'll you feel his presence today. His soul will always visit here. This was a place he loved and was so proud of and a place we will visit to feel him, remember him, and simply be in the place that brought him so much peace and happiness.

Tyson is survived by his biggest fan, his mom, Debra Woods Rumsey of Idaho Falls, Idaho; brother, Heath and Andrea Ferguson of Idaho Falls, Idaho; sister, Tausha and Marshall Kenney of Idaho Falls, Idaho; brother, Jeremy and Chelsie Ferguson of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and four other brothers, Cody Ferguson, Derek Ferguson, Nash Ferguson, and Branson Ferguson; as well as his 12 nieces and nephews; 7 great nieces and nephews; as well as his beloved aunts and uncles; and his biggest blessings, his CHILDREN and GRANDKIDS.

Tyson, AKA MOOSE, is preceded in death by his biological father, Robert "Grizz" Ferguson; grandparents, Donald and Barbara Ferguson; grandmother, Carmaleta McCulloch; grandfather, Harry McCulloch; and grandfather, Lawrence "Briggs" Woods.
