JOE MAYEDA
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Tsuyoshi Joe Mayeda, longtime area farmer, passed away July 21, 2007.
Joe was born February 16, 1926, in Idaho Falls, and lived his whole life in Idaho Falls. He graduated from Iona High School in 1944. He served in the U. S. Army from 1944 to 1946. Upon his return he helped farm the family farm in Iona, then the farm on Sunnyside Road. Joe continued to farm until 1990, when he retired from farming and went to work for School District #91 until his retirement in 2004.
Joe was a perfectionist when it came to his farming. He was a very respected farmer and many area farmers sought his advice. First and foremost in Joe's life was his family. Joe was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. In all his years of farming he always had time for his family, even after a hard days work.
Joe was loved dearly by his family and will be missed more than anyone can imagine.
Joe is survived by his wife, Janiel; daughter, Linda Merrick of Idaho Falls; granddaughter Marci of Boise; grandson Joe and great granddaughter Sierra of Great Falls, Montana; sons, Keven and Greg of Idaho Falls; Randy (Lana) and grandson Matt and great granddaughter Nina of Livermore, CA; and Corey (Rachel) and grandson Ethan and granddaughters Abby and Hannah of Farmington, Michigan. He is also survived by his siblings, Ann Itaya of Idaho Falls; Jeanne Nagaki of Oregon; Mary (Kogi) Nagao of Utah; Tucker (Muggy) Mayeda of Oregon; Tak (Misa) Mayeda of Nevada; and Satoshi (Betty) Mayeda of California; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents Arata and Toki and brother, Isamu.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 26, 2007, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 237 N. Water, with Reverend Brenda Sene officiating. The family will meet with friends for one hour prior to services at the church.
Burial will be at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Lung Study Center for ISP, 410 Chepeta Way, Suite 221, Salt Lake City, UT 84108.

Joe was a great friend and co-worker, I worked with Joe at the school district, I started in "95" Joe showed me the ropes, when he retired we all sure missed him, I still saw Joe alot -- my route at work took me right by his house, I usually saw Joe outside doing yard work. I would honk my horn and I would always get a smile and a wave, I know I will miss that alot. My heart goes out to Janiel and her family, Joe was very much loved by everyone who got the chance to know him, our deepest sympathies and prayers go out to the family.
