TREVA PETERSEN
PASCO, WA -- Treva Howard Petersen, 90, formerly of Idaho Falls and Island Park, Idaho, died on April 3, 2010, in Pasco, Washington.
She was born in Shelton, Idaho, on December 28, 1919, to Albert C. Howard and Zilpah (Bush) Howard. She fulfilled a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Central States Mission.
Treva married Leland Nephi Petersen in the LDS Salt Lake City Temple on November 28, 1941. Treva was a retired school secretary. She was dearly loved and revered by all who knew her.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life. She loved her family and the blessings of a strong Mormon heritage. She loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and her greatest desire was that all her children would be actively involved in the church. She had a tremendous knowledge of the gospel and loved to share her wisdom and experiences with others. She will be greatly missed; however, those who have knowledge of God’s great plan for His children know she is united with her husband and family and is in a far better place.
She is survived by her six children: Mrs. Leigh Ann (Tucker) Collings of Salt Lake City, UT; Stephen Howard Petersen of Boise, ID; Mrs. Catharine Jean (Ed) Force of Pueblo, CO; Winston Nephi Petersen of Kennewick, WA; Mrs. Anita B. (John) Farrell of Pasco, WA; and Cameron Val Petersen of Boise, ID; Sister: Beth Norma (Howard) Smith of Idaho Falls, ID; 24 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two small granddaughters and her husband, Leland Nephi Petersen.
Services will be held at the Pasco Washington LDS Stake Center. A viewing in Washington will be held Tuesday, April 6, 2010, from 6 to 8 pm at Mueller’s Greenlee Funeral Home, 1608 W. Court St., Pasco, WA 99301.
A visitation will also be held in Idaho Falls from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday, April 9, 2010, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. Burial will take place at 3 p.m. later that day at the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery.
