LaRue "Tootie" Fleetwood, 88, of Idaho Falls, passed away Monday, March 5, 2012, at Idaho Falls Care and Rehab Center of natural causes. Tootie was the fifth child in a family of nine, born July 5, 1923, in Teton, Idaho, to Edward Peter Sorensen and Verna Mae Neighbor Sorensen. She grew up in Teton City and attended school there before moving to Rexburg, where she attended Madison High School. In August 1944, she married Johnny Fleetwood in Tonapha, Nevada. Johnny died in a boating accident in the Tonapha area in 1951. Most of Tootie’s life was spent raising her boys and working as a waitress at North Hi-Way Café, Jack’s Chicken Inn, Topper Supper Club, and the Stardust. Tootie enjoyed gardening, fishing, and preparing family dinners. Tootie is survived by: Sons: Bradley Fleetwood of Idaho Falls, ID; Kimberly Fleetwood of Anchorage, AK; Brothers: Melvin Sorensen of Salt Lake City, UT; Ralph Sorensen of Idaho Falls, ID; Jerry (Karen) Sorensen of Idaho Falls, ID; One granddaughter, two great grandsons, one great granddaughter, and one great-great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Edward R.; Weston C.; Leslie R.; and Evelyn. At her request, Tootie will be cremated. A celebration of life will be held for family and friends on July 5, 2012, time and place to be announced.
