Tommie J. Brown, 82, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 24, 2013, at Bonaventure Place Retirement Community, surrounded by his loved ones. He was under the care of Encompass Hospice. Tommie was born August 10, 1930, in Iona, Idaho, to Lorenzo Dee Brown and Josephine Young Brown. He spent his childhood years in Iona and attended Iona Elementary School. He father passed away in 1941 and he moved to Alpine, Wyoming, to live with his sister, and attended 6th through 8th grades there. On November 18, 1947, he joined the U. S. Navy and served his country as a captain’s corollary, running fire drills on ships and working on plane carburetors during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged November 17, 1951. On November 29, 1949, he married Pearl Elizabeth Foster in Iona, Idaho, and they made their home in Roberts, Idaho. To this union were born five children, Daniel, Margo, Kenneth, Lorna, and Montie. Tommie worked as a farmer, miner for Silver Moon Mine, and at Idaho Travertine. He and Pearl had lived in Idaho Falls for 50 years when she passed away December 11, 2012. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed carving things out of blocks of wood, fishing, hunting, and riding horses. Tommie is survived by Son, Daniel Martin (Cora) Brown of Golden, CO; Daughter, Margo Elizabeth Rader of Idaho Falls, ID; Daughter, Lorna Lorraine Tonks of Idaho Falls, ID, Son, Kenneth Farrin Brown of Idaho Falls, ID; Son, Montie Joe (Tina) Brown of Ririe, ID; Brother, Garth Brown of Idaho Falls, ID; Brother, Harold "Hank" Brown of Las Vegas, NV; 27 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son-in-law, Perry E. Tonks, a great grandson, Teegan Freid, a great granddaughter, Tiaunna Dougan, five sisters, Marion Butte, Myra Tarquinio, Bonnie Schlie, Bertha Keller, and Rachael McGregor, and a brother, Lorn Bert Brown. Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2013, at the Iona Cemetery, with Wayne Siddoway officiating. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 to 2:15 p.m. Saturday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road. Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
