Roy “Tom” Powell, 83, of Salmon, Idaho, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on July 21, 2023.
Tom was born to William and Grace Powell on October 9,1939, in Sidney, Nebraska.
Tom attended the University of Wyoming for business where he met Jerrelyn Ann Bodine. They married in Lawton, Michigan, on June 4, 1960. Tom and Jerrelyn made it "out west" and settled in Missoula, Montana, in 1968. Tom bought and sold numerous businesses throughout his life and was a successful and well-respected businessman.
In the late 70s, he and Jerrelyn purchased a cabin at Owl Creek on the Salmon River. They spent most of their time at their cabin creating a beautiful family oasis where their children and grandchildren enjoyed making many family memories that they still talk about today. In 2004, they sold their cabin and relocated to Salmon.
Tom is survived by two children, Annalyn (Mike) Reynolds and Eric (Kim) Powell; his brother-in-law, Vern Bodine; his sister-in-law, Jane Powell; and 4 grandchildren, TJ (aka Timothy) Hefner, Kayla Wade, Grace (Chris) Jardee, Greg Powell; and 3 great grandchildren, Bentley, Bane, and Jagger Jardee; also numerous nieces and nephews.
Tom’s favorite place was his cabin on Owl Creek. Long after they sold the cabin, he still enjoyed long drives down river to admire the beautiful scenery. He cherished his time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
