TOM G. COOKSON
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Tom George Cookson, 88, of Idaho Falls,
died August 4, 2004, at the home of his nephew, Duane Perry.
He was born March 1, 1916, in Rexburg, to Harvey and
Ada Thurman Cookson. His early years were spent in Rexburg. When he was
about 3 years old, his family moved to Pocatello, Idaho. He lived there
a short time, then moved to North Powder, Oregon, and finally to LaGrande,
Oregon. In 1972, he moved to Idaho Falls, where he has since resided.
As a young man, he worked at the Highway Department driving
a snow plow. He later worked for different farmers in the area, farming
and building fences.
He joined the U. S. Army and served until he was given
a medical discharge. After his discharge, he was unable to care for himself
so he lived with his sister, Lillian Romondo, for many years until her
death. From that time until the present, he has lived with and been cared
for by Duane and Sharon Perry.
Tom had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to make people laugh; he
loved music and spent many hours singing to himself, which brought joy
to those around him.
Tom is survived by his nephew, Duane (Sharon) Perry,
of Idaho Falls, and Dale (Marion) Perry, of Zillah, Washington, and their
families. He also has a great nephew and niece. He was preceded in death
by two sisters, Lillian Romondo and Ruth Martini.
Graveside Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, August
7, 2004, at the Ammon Cemetery with Bishop Clayne Grigg of the Ammon LDS
10th Ward officiating.
Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery under the direction
of Wood Funeral Home East Side.
