R. Todd Thomas, 54, of Maple Valley, Washington, formerly of Iona, Idaho, died at his home August 22, 2012, of cancer.
Todd was born February 18, 1958, in Iona, Idaho, the son of Kenneth Leo Thomas and Carmen Cecelia Jacobson Thomas. He grew up and attended grade schools in Iona and graduated from Bonneville High School in 1977. As a 12-year-old boy Todd started delivering The Post Register. When he was a teenager he took on a motor route with his brother, Terrell, and they received top paper carrier awards for two years.
Todd graduated from Ricks College and Brigham Young University. He also served a full-time LDS Mission to Los Angeles, California. He ran a garage door business with his friends before and after they served their missions. Todd moved to the Seattle area in 1986, after graduating from BYU with a bachelor’s degree in Engineering. He worked for Boeing in a number of different departments in the Seattle area.
Todd found the love of his life, Jane Jones Beatty, in 1995, and they were married October 7, 1995, in the Jordan River LDS Temple in Utah.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Todd served in many positions in Maple Valley. He was very patriotic and proud to be an American. Todd was an avid BYU Football fan and being a Dad was his favorite job.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Jane Thomas of Maple Valley, WA;

Daughter, Melinda (Steven) Jacobson of Maple Valley, WA;
Daughter, Jamie Beatty of Draper, UT;
Daughter, Casey (fiancee, Jesse Kissell) Beatty of Rexburg, ID;
Son, Kyle Beatty, who is attending college in Cedar City, UT, and
Daughter, Teneal Thomas of Maple Valley, WA.
He is also survived by six siblings, Trudy (Bill) Clem of Ucon, ID; Terrell (Terri) Thomas of Green River, WY; Trina (Scott) Andersen of Rigby, ID; Tracy (Dave) Jensen of South Jordan, UT; Vernon Thomas of Iona, ID; and Doreen (Leif) Sorensen of Rexburg, ID. He has one grandson, Henry Jacobson, whom he adored, and many nieces and nephews who looked up to him.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday in Maple Valley, Washington. Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 31, 2012, at the Iona Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road.
