Todd Carlton Johnson, 54, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully August 11, 2022, at his home. Todd was born October 29, 1967, in Walnut Creek, California, to Carlton Arthur Johnson and Norma J. Johnson. He grew up and attended schools in Concord, California before the family moved to Idaho. He graduated from Bonneville High School. Todd made his home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where he worked for Pest Control Services for 25 years. In 1997, he started T-&-T’s Dynamite Dogs and has served the community with delicious hot dogs, nachos, and sausages since. He recently began working for Mountain View Hospital operating their Mobile Medical Clinic he named “Shrek”.
The last 13 years of Todd’s life have been filled with special adventures with his best friend and partner, Kelly Vogt, who he met through a friendly conversation on his front porch. They were the cutest neighbors this world has ever seen. Todd was passionate about music, especially Rock N Roll and was a gifted drummer known for his exceptional timing and rhythm. He loved restoring drum sets and had a special skill to create beautiful, one of a kind instruments. In his earlier years he played in rock bands and loved jamming with his buddies.
He had to have the greenest lawn on the block and proudly displayed his vegetable garden in his front yard. He made up the best dad jokes and laughed hysterically at himself every time he shared them. He cherished family history and traditions, like making Swedish Korv (potato sausage) that was passed down through many generations, and collected sentimental family memorabilia. He had to have his ducks in a row, always, and his greatest advice was to have integrity. He adored his daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren, and loved spending time with them and teaching them things. He loved his dog, Hank, and the two of them had a special bond.
Todd also enjoyed collecting and shooting guns, fishing, camping, traveling, tinkering around in his garage, cooking, grilling, dancing, playing poker, and putting together stereo systems so loud they could tear the walls out of the house. Todd was very outgoing and always willing to go out of his way to help others. He was the life of the party, making friends everywhere he went and striking conversations with complete strangers. He was the glue to our family and bringing everyone together was very important to him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. There is nobody quite like Todd.
Todd is survived by his daughter, Jenesa Johnson Sasinouski, and her husband, the son he never had, Jody Sasinouski, of Shelley, ID; the love of his life, Kelly Vogt of Idaho Falls, ID; grandchildren, Devenee, Tyven, and Paxten; brothers, Kurt (LaNell) Johnson of Lolo, MT, and Brad Johnson and his partner Michelle Nielsen of Idaho Falls, ID; several cousins, and friends he called family. He was greeted in heaven by his mother, Norma J. Johnson; father, Carlton Arthur Johnson; grandparents, Knut and Esther Johnson; grandparents, Carl and Lily Johnson; and fur babies, Charlie and Bailey. A gathering will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, August 21, 2022, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in his honor to Stewards of Recovery in Idaho Falls or Hospice of Eastern Idaho.
