Timothy LeRoy Meyer, 58, of Idaho Falls, passed away on February 19, 2017, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Tim was born February 13, 1959, in Fargo, North Dakota to LeRoy Carl Meyer and Mary Kathryn David Meyer. He was the third of eight children born to LeRoy and Mary. Developmental difficulties were noted in Tim shortly before he turned one year of age. He lived with his parents until he was seven years old, and then was admitted to institutions that could give him more help with his disabilities.
Tim lived in New Mexico and Colorado before moving to Nampa, Idaho in 1977. In 2008, he moved to Idaho Falls where he lived at the Yellowstone Group Homes. Tim never had a job, but enjoyed shredding paper for recycling at the Idaho State School and Hospital in Nampa and was able to work independently for up to 30 minutes.
Tim also enjoyed playing Connect Four and playing outside on the swings.
Tim is survived by: his father, LeRoy Meyer of Idaho Falls; sister, Martha (Terry) Real of Fairfax, Virginia; sister, Susan (David) Hansen of Purcellville, Virginia; brother, Edward (Tammy) Meyer of Vacaville, California sister, Mary Beth (Lance) Ziegler of Davenport, Washington; brother, Bruce (Erica) Meyer of Murray, Utah; sister, Emily (Michael) Dickerson of Sterling, Virginia; He was preceded in death by his mother; and a brother, Larry Meyer.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at Trinity United Methodist Church (237 N. Water Ave.) with Pastor Ric Shewell, of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge Ave.) and on Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church.
Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
