THORA P. PRESTWICH
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Thora Pearl Gibbs Prestwich, 78, of
Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical
Center on August 10, 2004.
She was born October 28, 1926, in Garland, Utah, the
fifth child in a family of eight, to Melvin Gibbs and Emma Elizabeth Landon
Gibbs. She and her family lived in Portage, Osgood, Milo, Stockton, California,
and Idaho Falls. She attended school in Osgood and graduated from Ucon
High School in 1944. After she graduated from high school, she and her
family moved to Stockton, California, where she worked at the Stockton
Savings and Loan.
While living in California, she met her husband, Leo
Verdell Prestwich. She returned to Idaho Falls in 1946, and they were
married November 12, 1947, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They had three
children, Craig, Ann, and Kirk.
After her marriage, she worked at Firestone Tire Company,
Homer-Koster Insurance, and later, in the billing department at the Sacred
Heart Hospital.
She was a member of The Church of Jess Christ of Latter-day
Saints, and held many positions through the years, including Stake Relief
Society secretary and visiting teacher. She also sang in her Stake choir
as well as the choir at BYU while attending school there. Her hobbies
were sewing, canning, and baking bread.
She is survived by her son, Craig (Sue) Prestwich, of
Provo, Utah, daughter, Ann (David) Skinner of Bonney Lake, Washington;
and son, Kirk (Jamie) Prestwich of Idaho Falls; grandsons, Jeremy, Ryan,
Ryan, Sean and Aaron; granddaughters, Alecia, Sarah, Lindsey and Kelsey;
one great-grandson, Jordan; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband,
Leo, on August 5, 2004, her parents, six sisters and one brother preceded
her in death.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, August
14, 2004, in the Idaho Falls LDS 8th Ward building, 2051 South Emerson,
with Bishop Brad Doman officiating. The family will visit with friends
and family Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge,
Idaho Falls, and Saturday for one hour prior to services at the church.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral
Home.
