Thomas Gerard Kettler, 45, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away at his home. Thomas was born January 21, 1973, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Paul M. Kettler and Phyllis J. Blackbird Kettler. He grew up and attended schools in the area and graduated from high school. On May 8, 2009, he married Lisa Marie Barr in Boise, Idaho. They made their home in Blackfoot where Thomas worked in maintenance for the Shoshone Bannock Hotel and as a wild land firefighter for the Shoshone and Bannock Tribes. He was also a member of the Catholic Church. He loved the United States of America and was proud of his Native American Heritage. Thomas was a loving man who cherished his family and taught his sons to hunt, fish, and that a man’s word is worth something. He told stories about his life around the campfire, creating fond memories with his family. He also loved hosting barbeques for family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all. Thomas is survived by his wife, Lisa Marie Kettler; son, Brandon Ky Barr; son, Russell James Red Elk Barr; son, Thomas Paul Her Many Horses Kettler; father, Paul M Kettler; sisters, Cheryl, Stephanie and Kathleen; sister-in-law, Cheri Outcelt; brother-in-law, Bird Osborne; brother-in-law, Robert Damon; mother-in-law, Charlotte Damon; parents-in-law, Frank and Sheryl Outcelt; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis J. Kettler and his sister, Mary Kettler. Private family services will be held at a later date.
