Thomas Michael Kearns, 83, of Idaho Falls, passed away October 6, 2017, at Teton Post Acute Care & Rehabilitation. He was under the care of Solace Hospice.
Thomas was born August 14, 1934, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to James and Margaret Kearns. He grew up and attended Catholic schools in Philadelphia. He joined the U.S. Army and met his first wife, Carolee Carlson. They lived in Florida and had two daughters, Carolyn and Karen. They settled in Idaho Falls and were later divorced.
Thomas married Cheryl Barlow in 1973, in Idaho Falls and they had two sons, Paul and Thomas Jr. and a daughter Chrissy. They were later divorced.
He married Linda Schaefer in Idaho Falls in 1997. Thomas and Linda made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Thomas worked as a automotive mechanic. Linda Kearns passed away on April 26, 2014.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed outdoor activities including boating, camping, as well as doing home improvements and his work as a mechanic.
Thomas is survived by his daughter, Carolyn (Bruce) Murphy of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Karen McKenna of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Thomas Kearns of Spokane, WA; son, Paul (Anita) Kearns of Seattle, WA; daughter, Chrissy (Chris) Bell of Spokane, WA; sister, Cookie of Chicago, IL; and six grandchildren, Ryan, Sydney, Katie, Aidan, Keldan, and Grace.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Kearns, parents, brother, James Kearns, a sister, Marie. A gathering will held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:15 p.m., when military rites will be conducted, Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. Burial will be at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
