Thomas Hodgson

Thomas Arthur Hodgson, 68, of Island Park, Idaho, passed away February 27, 2013, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center from leukemia. Tom was born April 10, 1944, in Spokane, Washington, to Arthur Hodgson and Stella Christina Speelmon Hodgson. He was the youngest of five boys. He attended schools in Terreton, Idaho, and graduated from West Jefferson High School in 1962. He attended college at the University of Idaho and Idaho State University, graduating from U of I with a degree in Animal Husbandry in 1967. He married Annette Jackett and they had four children, Elizabeth, Michael, Pauline and Kathleen. They divorced in 1984. Tom worked as a meat inspector for the State of Idaho for four months, directly following his graduation from the University of Idaho. He then worked at the INL as a Laboratory Technician from 1967 to 1977, while farming on the weekends. He resigned from the INL to farm full time in Mud Lake until 2002, when he retired to live in Island Park. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends and shared his life with Patsy Kuiper for 21 years. His daughters would like to thank Patsy for faithfully staying by his side and caring for him through his chemotherapy and subsequent passing. Tom is survived by his very dear friend, Patsy Kuiper, of Idaho Falls; Daughter, Elizabeth “Liz” (Greg) Harris of Pocatello, ID, Daughter, Pauline (Sam) Adams of Mountain Home, ID, Daughter, Kate (Marty) Reed of Pocatello, ID; Brother, J. D. Hodgson of Dubois, WY, Brother, Jim Hodgson of Boise, ID, Brother, George Hodgson of Idaho Falls, ID; 10 Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Michael Hodgson, and a brother, Gale Hodgson. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. at Wood East Side.
