Thomas Orin Borg, 82, of Ammon, passed away March 19, 2021, at his home, with his family by his side.
Tom was born February 6, 1939, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Jonas Berger Borg and Virginia Jenkins Borg. His father built a beautiful log home in Idaho Falls where he resided. He attended and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He then went to Ricks College, now BYU-Idaho. He went on to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Norway where he was able to meet the aunts who attended to his dad who was born prematurely.
He went to school at Idaho Falls High School where he loved fast cars and lettered in wrestling. On August 10, 1962, he married Sandra Lee Madsen in the Idaho Falls Temple. He then attended BYU-Provo, graduating with a degree in Industrial Arts Education. He taught at the Child Development Center for a time. Tom loved building, so he joined the Carpenters Local 808, and worked many years in the building trade, including building homes, bridges, and the INL. He had a love of tools and teaching his children the value of hard work - both of which came from his time in the shop with his father.
He enjoyed trains and going to events with his children and grandchildren. He loved to go to the family cabin that his father built in Palisades. He had a love for fishing with his children and grandchildren, snowmobiling, and recreational vehicles. You typically found him with either a mug of Pepsi or a tool in his hand.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Lee Borg of Ammon, ID; children, Mart (Dennis), Michael (Julie), Matthew (Dominique), and Rebecca (Brian, deceased) Crow; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Josef and David Borg; sister, Jeaniene Empey; and son-in-law, Brian Crow.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 2021, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, with Bishop Michael Borg officiating. The family will visit with friends from 1-1:45 p.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
