Theola Robertson

Theola Bingham Robertson, 95, passed away peacefully, following a short illness on February 20, 2018. She was living at Heritage Assisted Living in Rexburg, Idaho. She felt at home there and was well taken care of. Theola was born on January 19, 1923, in Rockford, Idaho. She was the third daughter of Edna Pearl and Lorin Bingham. She was raised in the Rockford, Thomas, and Moreland areas outside of Blackfoot. Theola worked hard in the fields, alongside her father and brothers, and then hurried in to help her mother prepare the meals for the family and crew. She met her husband, Mark, as a teenager when his family moved into the area. They were married and sealed on June 25, 1943, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were blessed with five children, raised them in Idaho Falls, and were married 57 years at the time of Mark's death in 2000. Throughout her life, Theola loved sports, dancing and drama. She performed in a lot of dramatic readings and went to Boise and other areas in Idaho to compete. She performed in road shows and plays at the Civic Auditorium and in church productions. As a girl, she played basketball and softball, in which she played best as catcher. She played softball well into her 50's and early 60's. When she couldn't play any longer, she enjoyed watching her grandkids play ball. Working was her hobby. She was always working in her garden, yard, or in her home. Theola, her husband, and two sons built three homes in which they lived. Once, while her husband was working out of state, Theola and her friend went up on the roof of the home they were building, and shingled the roof themselves. Theola was a very active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served as a youth leader and twice as a Relief Society President under Bishop Milt Romrell and Bishop Jack Scott. She and her husband served a mission for their church in the Toledo, Ohio Mission. Survivors include her children, Vickie Lynn King (Jim) of Idaho Falls, Faye Miskin (Nile) of Idaho Falls, Gaila Robinson (Jack) of Shelley, Guy Mark Robertson (Chantelle) of Rexburg; sister, Joyce Brower (Lloyd) of Moreland; 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, David Brett Robertson; her husband, Mark; both parents; and four brothers, LaVerle, Dwight, Don and Mark Allen Bingham. The family would like to extend our appreciation for those working at the Heritage Assisted Living of Rexburg and Encompass Hospice for their wonderful care of our mother. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 2, 2018, at the Ammon 5th Ward, 2055 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends and family from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services.
