Theo Orchard

Theo Ray Orchard, Sr., known respectfully and lovingly as "Ted", passed away August 10, 2026, at the age of 91, in his home, in Iona, Idaho, under the care of his loving family and Aspen Hospice. Born on September 28, 1934, in Logan, Cache, Utah, to Clifford P. Orchard and Reta E. (Burns) Orchard, Ted lived a long, full life defined by devotion to family, faith, and purposeful work.

Ted grew up in a close-knit family who settled in Carey, Idaho. On November 14, 1956, he married Joyce S. Donohue in the Idaho Falls Temple, who he had met in his youth, loved throughout his life, and will love for eternity, and together they raised a family and built a legacy that will endure for generations.

Ted was a man of great faith and rejoiced in any opportunity to serve the Lord. He accepted calls to serve three missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints during his life (Toronto, Canada; Nauvoo, Illinois; and Scotland), and along with many other cherished callings, he served as a bishop, as a member of the stake presidency, and as stake patriarch. He also served in the Idaho Falls temple for many years and faithfully attended the temple until his body no longer allowed him to do so.

Ted found great fulfillment in his career with stone and owned Idaho Travertine Corporation in Idaho Falls. His work is memorialized in buildings across the country including, the Washington D.C. Temple, the Nauvoo Illinois Temple, and the Salt Lake City Conference Center. He particularly loved working alongside family members as he grew his stone business.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; his children, Theo R. Orchard, Jr. (Patricia Leach) of Payson, Utah; Marlys Moon (Randall) of Tucson, Arizona; Angela Burch (Nielsen) of Ucon, Idaho; Christine Baird of Iona, Idaho; Timothy Orchard (Loree Forsberg) of Ucon, Idaho; and Clifford Orchard (Olga Hernandez) of Idaho Falls, Idaho; thirty-four grandchildren; ninety-three great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Willam Orchard (Jennie Holland) of Ririe, Idaho; two grandsons; and his son-in-law, John Baird of Iona, Idaho.
