Thelma Jackson

Click Here To View Memorial Video Thelma C. Jackson, 96, of Rigby, went home to her Heavenly Father on May 29, 2015, surrounded by loved ones, at her granddaughter’s home. Thelma was born April 17, 1919, in her beloved Teton Valley, Idaho. She was one of ten children born to Richard E. Thomas and Lucille C. Hansen Thomas. Thelma attended Tetonia Elementary and Driggs-Teton High School. On June 11, 1938, she married Darrell Mirt Jackson in Teton Valley, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on April 28, 1949. To this union were born four children; Jerry M. Jackson, Janice Marilyn Jackson, Marjorie Lucille Jackson and Kathy Thelma Jackson. Thelma and Darrell made their home in Driggs, Idaho, where Thelma worked was a waitress and head baker at Pierre’s Café. She also worked at the Nelson Ricks Cheese Factory in Victor, Idaho. Darrell passed away on September 14, 2009. Thelma was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints and served in various capacities, including Relief Society President. Thelma and Darrell moved from Driggs to Idaho Falls in 1984. They also served two missions at the Idaho Falls Visitors Center after moving to Rigby, Idaho in 2007. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting, gardening, camping and taking trips with her children and grandchildren. Thelma is survived by her son, Jerry Jackson, of Ririe, ID; daughter, Kathy Thelma (Dan) Lerwill of Rigby, ID; daughter, Marjorie Lucille (Terry) Jenson, of Rigby, ID; daughter, Jan Marilyn (Spence) Sims, of Rigby, ID; 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Darrell, all of her siblings. Thelma was the last living of ten siblings. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Hands of Hope Hospice team and Thelma’s granddaughter, Kathy Marie. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Cache-Clawson Cemetery.
