IDAHO FALLS, IDAHO -- Thelma Wadsworth Butler, 95, of Idaho Falls, passed away March 26, 2009, at the Idaho Falls Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born September 30, 1913, in the family home in Shelley, Idaho, to Eli Arnold Wadsworth and Sara Ann Humpherys Wadsworth. She grew up in Ammon, attended school in Ammon, and Chinook, Montana.
On January 7, 1934, she married Ray Goold Butler in Chinook, Montana. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Cardston Alberta, Canada Temple. She lived in Chinook, Ammon and Shelley, Idaho. She was a homemaker.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served for 17 years with her husband, as a temple ordinance worker in the Idaho Falls temple. She also served in the Primary, Young Women Organization and as a Dance Director, as well as many other callings over the years.
She enjoyed playing the Ukulele and singing duets with her sister, Nona. She loved spending time at their cabin in Island Park, camping, picnics in the mountains, reading, collecting dolls, working on her family history and having her family come to visit her.
Survivors include her children; a son, Wayne Ray (Arla) Butler of Shelley, Idaho; five daughters, Marilyn (Garn) Ray of Idaho Falls; Elaine (Wayne) Robinson of Roberts, Idaho; Carol (Dayle) Holm of Blackfoot, Idaho; Donna (Alan) Empey of Shelley, Idaho; and Patsy (Steven) Vaughn of Roy, Utah. Two sisters, Zella Roberts of Logan, Utah and Beth Olsen of Las Vegas, Nevada. 26 grandchildren and 97 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Goold Butler; a daughter, Marlene; baby sister, Velta Wadsworth; a sister, Sara Anona Pommer; a sister, Donna Louise Croft; and a brother, Arnold Vaughn Wadsworth.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 30, 2009, at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) with Bishop Lee Brundage, of the Woodruff 3rd Ward, officiating. The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 1-1:45 p.m. prior to the services, both at the Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park.
