Terry Cook

Teresa “Terry” Louise Trail (Cook) was born on February 14, 1960, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, to her mother, Ona Meega Crosslin, and father, Claude Trail. She was later raised by her stepfather, Glen Duncan, and together, he and Ona Meega raised Terry and some of her siblings in Bradyville, Tennessee. She had a total of three brothers (Raymond, Billy, and David) and seven sisters (Claudia, Susan, Linda, Robbie, Barbara, Tricia, and Diana). As an adolescent, she loved to ride motorcycles and horses, especially her cherished paint horse, Buck, and spend time outside with her beloved siblings. Their time together created an everlasting bond. Her siblings remember her as the champion of the underdog. She was always willing to stand up for someone in need.

In 1976, she married Bobby “Robin” Cook, and a year later, they welcomed their only child, a daughter, Tara Lynn Cook (McLean). They divorced a few years later. Around this time, Terry met her lifelong best friend, Lynn Bailey. Terry became a Nuclear Quality Assurance Engineer, and this job took her all over the United States with Lynn and Tara in tow. She also traveled out of the country to Honduras, where Lynn adopted Terry’s twin godsons, Ramon and Miguel Bailey.

In 1992, Terry moved to Idaho to work for the INL. She absolutely loved Idaho, and she knew this was the place she wanted to put down roots. She loved to go camping and fishing, especially with her family and friends. One of her favorite places to go was Palisades. Terry’s favorite hobby was playing pool. She competed in many pool leagues and tournaments, as well as dart and bowling leagues. She also loved to attend the karaoke nights at the bar and always had a stereo at home she would sing along to. Spending time at her favorite bars introduced her to many friends, which she always offered advice or a shoulder to cry on. She was an extrovert at heart and loved to be surrounded by family and friends.

In 2016, she married her late wife, Tammy Jo Cook (Hathaway). They made their home in Rigby, Idaho, until Tammy’s passing in 2020. Tammy left a lasting impact on Terry’s life and introduced Terry to new friends.

In 2024, Terry married the love of her life, Rachelle Mathews, and gained another child, their son, Ryeker Reay. They made their home in Rigby, Idaho, and loved to host family and friends together, especially around the campfire and on football Sundays. As Terry’s health deteriorated, Chelle was with her every step of the way, showing her the upmost love and compassion, and kept her in good spirits.

Terry only had one daughter, but she had many kids who lovingly thought of her as a maternal figure, namely including Ramon and Miguel Bailey, Hilary Wheeler, and Brian McLean. Terry was a beloved “Granny” and fondly referred to her grandkids by nicknames she gave them at birth, Donovan “Tudorbug” McLean, Haily “Sunshine” McLean, and Kaiden “Snugglebug” McLean.

Terry was a force to be reckoned with! She impacted many, many lives and will be missed and remembered forever.

Terry is survived by her loving wife, Chelle; daughter, Tara; brother, David Trail of MA; sisters, Linda (Johnny) Brown of TN, Robbie (Robert) Tate of TN, Patricia Utley of TN, and Diana Wilson of TN; her best friend, Lynn Bailey; and her grandkids, her chosen children, and many nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Terry is preceded in death by her parents, Ona Meega and Glen Duncan; brothers, Raymond Trail and William “Billy” Trail; and her sisters, Barbara Hodge, Susan Trail, and Claudia Harmon.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Brio Home Health and Hospice for the care of Terry and her family during this difficult time.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
