Teresa “Terri” Dees Kopp, beloved wife, mother, Nana, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in Idaho Falls, Idaho, after a brief and brave fight with cancer. She was 66 years old.
Terri was born on September 14, 1959, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, the daughter of Glen and Leona Dees. She attended school at Bonneville High School and Ricks College.
On May 19, 1979, she married her next-door neighbor and lifelong best friend, Kwin Kopp, in the Idaho Falls Temple. She loved to tell the story of how he was so smitten the first time he saw her, he fell off his roof. Together, they created a home filled with love, laughter, the occasional bit of chaos, and an abundance of good food.
Terri's greatest joy in life was her family. She lovingly raised four children and played an important role in the lives of her nine grandchildren—and even one beloved granddog. She was their biggest cheerleader and never missed a chance to brag about her kids and grandkids. As a Nana, she was truly one of a kind. Her backyard was a childhood dream, filled with playhouses, tree forts, apple trees, zip lines, and swing sets. Terri had a natural gift for nurturing, whether she was tending to her garden, growing beautiful flowers, or caring for the little ones around her. In every sense, she was something special.
Her home was a revolving door of friends, neighbors, and kids who never left with an empty stomach. If you walked in once, you were basically family from then on—and yes, she remembered your favorite dessert. She had a way of making everyone around her feel like they belonged, and that they were home.
She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, stubbornness, spiritual strength, and a snack drawer that was never empty. She was the heart of our family, and she will be dearly missed.
Terri is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Kwin Kopp, whom she adored. She is also survived by her children, Teea Hillyard (Travis), KaLee Ralphs (Marshal), Brendon Kopp, and Kara Grayson (Evan); her grandchildren, Hailey (Zach), Samantha, Jaiden, Harper, Easton, Rhylie, Owen, McKinsey, Kennedy, and River; and her siblings, Glenda Hawkes and Brent Dees.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Leona Dees, and her sister Michele High.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Ammon LDS Central building at 3000 Central Ave, Ammon, Idaho. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Terri by doing what she did best—show up. Take care of someone. Make the call. Bring the cookies. Hug your people. Remember the small things. Make someone feel like they matter. Because that's what Terri did, every single day.
