Ted Taylor Whitehead

Ted Taylor Whitehead, 81, of Ammon, passed away November 3, 2021, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Ted was born May 8, 1940, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Therald Tracy Whitehead and Blanche Mary Taylor Whitehead. He grew up and attended schools in Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School and attended Idaho State University.

On November 6, 1962, he married Carol Ann Wood in Malad, Idaho. Ted and Carol made their home in New Sweden, west of Idaho Falls for 45 years, where they raised four children together. Ted worked hard his entire life. He worked construction and ran heavy equipment.

Ted was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Later, Ted and Carol were sealed in the Mesa Arizona Temple.

Ted loved old cars, GTOs being his favorite. Ted craved reading, consuming books at a rapid rate. He loved music, drag races, and car shows, especially the Barrett Jackson car show. The most important thing of all to Ted was family and friends. Ted was an avid spinner of yarns. He had an incredible memory and could recall almost any date, time, or event from his long life. People were mesmerized by his storytelling and he was never one to deny his audience. He particularly loved to make others laugh.

Ted is survived by his loving wife, Carol Ann Whitehead; daughters, Tracy (Rob) Zollinger of Chandler, AZ, Kimberly (David) Rafferty of Bone, ID, and Carie (Bruce) Smith of Billings, MT; and son, Doug (Anna) Whitehead of Boise, ID; as well as 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Therald and Blanche Whitehead.

Private family services will be held on a later date at Iona Cemetery.
