Ted Ransom, 81, of Iona, passed away June 30, 2012 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Ted was born April 18, 1931 in Lincoln, Idaho to Heber J. Ransom and Velma Prescott Ransom. They lived in Grace, Idaho and Preston, Idaho where he graduated from high school.
Ted served in the United States Air Force from 1951 - 1954, after which he enrolled at the University of Idaho. Graduating with a degree in Business, he went to work for the U. S. Forest Service. This employment led him to various parts of the country, including Missoula, MT; Washington DC; and Ogden, UT.
Upon his retirement, Ted was able to pursue his love of hunting in such places as Alaska and British Columbia. One of the highlights of his hunting days included his successful trip to Russia for a brown bear.
On July 1, 1994, Ted married Susie McNamara Clarke. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Daughter: Susan (John) Shelnutt of Little Rock, AR;
Stepdaughter: Cathy Jo (Justin) Young of Rigby, ID;
Stepsons: Brad Clarke of Orem, UT;
Jason (Michelle) Clarke of Hyrum, UT;
Sister: Beverly Winger of Preston, ID;
Sister-in-Law: Maxine Ransom of Idaho Falls, ID;
2 Grandchildren; 8 Step Grandchildren;
and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Max Ransom, Jay Ransom, and Claude Ransom; and a stepson, Brian Clarke.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012 at the Iona LDS Stake Center on the Ririe Highway (7555 N. 55th East) with Bishop Byard Cox of the Iona LDS 2nd Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
