Theodore "Ted" Arthur Hicks, 82, of Idaho Falls, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He leaves his wife of 62 years, Myrtis Brian Hicks of Idaho Falls; and six daughters, Janelle (Earl) Norris of Midway, UT; Elizabeth Hicks Woolstenhulme of Idaho Falls; Lisa (David) Prier of Huntsville, TX; Jennifer (Kirkmichael) Moore of Houston, TX; Deanna Hicks of Idaho Falls; and Rachel (Greg) Gibson of Asheville, NC. He leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two granddaughters. Born on January 16, 1933, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Walter Hicks and Jewel Howze Hicks. He is survived by his brother, Charlie Hicks, and his sister, Naida Hicks Brooks. Ted served in the U.S. Army as a Medic. He served in the Coast Guard Reserve for many years and obtained the rank of Lt. Commander. He graduated from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge during which time he met his bride, Myrtis. Ted worked for the Social Security Administration for more than 30 years in offices in Baton Rouge and New Orleans, LA; and Dallas and McKinney, TX. In addition, Ted worked several part-time jobs to support his family including owning his own trophy business and umpiring for city league softball. Ted was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served faithfully in many leadership callings, including Area Athletic Director for the South Central area of the United States. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 7, 2015, at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery where Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard. The family will visit with friends from 1:00-1:45 p.m. prior to services at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue.
