Tanis Walters

Tanis Ann Walters, 67, of Idaho Falls, passed away December 15, 2014, at her home. Tanis was born February 16, 1947, in Council, Idaho. Her family lived in Riggins, Idaho, where she was the youngest of eight children--the only one born in a hospital. She was very spoiled by all of her siblings. Her family moved several times, and ended up in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School. She continued a higher education later at Boise State University. In 1967, she married David Walters in Idaho Falls. They had one son, David James, known by all as “D.J.” They enjoyed camping, boating, riding motorcycles, and snow skiing. She also loved riding horses. Tanis and David were later divorced. Tanis worked at Warm Springs Golf Course while going to college. She later worked for Golf America. She was transferred to Corvallis, Oregon, where she worked as an Accountant for the country club. In 2003, she began having health problems, and returned to Idaho Falls to be closer to her family. She loved doing glass work, where she made window hangings, and even a sky light for a friend. After she moved to Idaho Falls, she started doing counted cross stitch, and that became her true passion. She made beautiful pictures, and quite a few members of the family have some of her work in their homes. She had a big heart for animals. She took in two stray cats, and gave them a home. She loved those two cats! Tanis is survived by her son, D.J. (Gina) Walters of Boise, ID; sister, Lula (Rex) Speas of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Dorine Welker of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Barbara (Ron) Hutchings of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Lois Dawson of Boise, ID; brother, James Gray of Echo, OR; granddaughter, Kylie Walters of Boise, ID; grandson, Hunter Walters of Boise, ID. She was preceded in death by her mother, Reva Gray; father, Elmer Pemberton; and brothers, Bill and Bob Pemberton. She will be greatly missed by all. A memorial gathering will be held from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Friday, December 19, 2014, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road.
