TAD R SCHOFIELD Click here to view Tad's Video Tribute IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Tad R Schofield, age 79, passed away April 11, 2009, at his home, in Idaho Falls, from the effects of lung and heart disease. He was the 8th of nine children born to Leo and Hazel Richman Schofield on October 18, 1929, at Moody Creek, Idaho. He grew up in the Moody Creek (Teton City Ward) area where he attended grade school and graduated from Sugar Salem High School in 1948. He was President of his Senior Class. He married Joyce Neibaur of Newdale, Idaho on April 2, l949. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple in l953. Six children were born to this union. In the 1950s to 1964 Tad farmed in the Moody Creek area with his brother Bob Schofield and from 1964 to 1972 he farmed in the Minidoka and Cassia County area. In 1972 Tad moved his family back to Idaho Falls and he obtained certification as a drug and alcohol counselor. In the 1980s his counseling work took him to Elko, Nevada. Tad was able to comfort and help those that were struggling with drug and alcohol dependence and many who were victims of domestic violence. Wherever Tad lived and worked he touched many lives for the better. Tad was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many volunteer capacities. His greatest loves and accomplishments included being married to his beloved Joyce for over 60 years, his friends and fellowship in AA, his friends and service in the Sage View Ward, going to the Temple, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his efforts to stay in contact with his many loved nephews, nieces and cousins. He is survived by his wife Joyce and 6-children: Kathy Schofield of Idaho Falls, Michael (Rita) Schofield of Idaho Falls, Dan Schofield of Idaho Falls, LaReen Schofield Pierce (Randy Ellis) of Idaho Falls, Janet (Gordon) Mills of Burley and John Schofield (Betty Hudson) of Idaho Falls; brother Robert (Cleola) Schofield of Lewisville and sister Glenna S. Zick of Thousand Oaks, CA and sister-in-law Fern (Elwin) Schofield Idaho Falls; 16 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers (Elwin and Ross) and four sisters (Lillie Anderson, Verla Roberts, June Smith and Leola Miller), a grandson Nathan Schofield and a great-grandson Teagan Rees. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009 at the Idaho Falls LDS Sage View Ward, 1345 Clarence Drive, Idaho Falls, with Bishop Byron Nukaya conducting. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave. in Idaho Falls, and Saturday from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. before the services at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park. The family expresses their thanks and sincere gratitude for the tender and loving care during Tad's last days by family members, friends, medical personnel including Dr. Wallace Baker and his staff, Hospice of Eastern Idaho, Independence Inc., and particularly to Mary Macdonald who served far beyond her duties.
