SYLVIA RICKS IDAHO FALLS, ID - Sylvia May Ricks, 91, of Idaho Falls, died September 19, 2003, at the Idaho Falls Care Center. She was born September 22, 1911 in Hibbard, Idaho to Charles Martin Larsen and Elsie May Knapp Larsen. She grew up and attended schools in Rexburg and Sugar City. She married Elden Cecil Ricks July 17, 1929 in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. They moved to Dillon, Montana from 1956 to 2003 where she had worked as head cook for the school lunch program. Her husband preceded her in death. She moved back to Idaho Falls in June 2003 to be nearer her family. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in which she served as a teacher in the Primary, Sunday School, and MIA; served in the Stake Primary, Stake MIA, as a Stake missionary and for many years a visiting teacher. She enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, embroidering, sewing, knitting dish cloths, quilting, and baking. She loved attending the temple, family visits, rides in the country and spoiling her grandchildren. Diane (Norman)Wheeler, Ammon, ID Daughter: Carol A. (John) Van Dyck, Ammon, ID Son: Gerald K. (Sharon) Ricks, Dillon, MT Brother: Marion (Roena) Larsen, Silver Springs, MD Brother: Justin (Oreva) Larsen, Apache Junction, AZ Brother: (Vaun (Lucretia) Larsen, Iona, ID Sister: Virginia (Virl) Virgin, Ucon, ID Sister: Donna (Leland) Gardner, Roberts, ID Sister: Verna (Jess) Humphries, Salt Lake City, UT 36 Grandchildren, 76 Great Grandchildren, and 5 Great Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, John E. Ricks, Sisters, Blanche Littlefield and Velma Richardson, a brother, Gerald Larsen, a son-in-law, Jack Dunlap and grandsons, Kelly Ricks and John Dunlap. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 23, 2003, at the Ammon LDS 1st Ward, 3000 Central Avenue, with her Son, Blair C. Ricks, officiating. The family will visit with friends Monday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Wood East Side Chapel, 963 South Ammon Road, and on Tuesday for one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Rexburg Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home East Side.
