MERLE DAVIS
IONA, ID -- Sylvia Merle Stallings Davis, 83, of Iona, passed
away April 16, 2005, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
She was born March 21, 1922, in Lincoln, Idaho, to Don Carlos
Stallings and Ora Howard Stallings. She grew up in Lincoln and Lewisville
and attended schools in Lincoln and Idaho Falls.
She married Thomas Lester Davis November 5, 1938, in Ucon.
Their marriage was solemnized August 17, 1962, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
They established their home in Iona, then lived between Iona and Driggs for
nearly 20 years, returning to Iona full time in 1959, where they have lived
ever since. She was a homemaker and mother and also worked at The Family Forum,
California Pack, Roger Brothers Seed Company, and Sears.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints, she served in various callings over the years. She was a member of
the Idaho Falls Square Dancers Club for many years. She was also active in
the Lions Club and Iona events. She loved working with the Scouts as her sons
were growing up, and enjoyed camping, fishing, family outings, picnics, and
reunions all her life. She successfully raised three children and actively
stayed involved in supporting her husband, children and grandchildren's interests.

Sister: Gayle Taylor, Woodbridge, VA
11 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, Don Kent
Davis and Lynn Keith Davis, a brother, Howard Stallings, and a sister, Dorothy
Gardner.
Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 22,
2005, at the Iona LDS Stake Center, Iona Road & 55th East, with Ryan J.
Reeves of the Iona LDS 5th Ward Bishopric officiating.
The family will visit with friends Thursday from 7 to 8:30
p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, Idaho Falls, and Friday
for one hour prior to the services at the church.
Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery under the direction of
Wood Funeral Home.
