Sylvia Waddoups Allen, 87, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 2, 2011, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of congenital heart failure. Sylvia was born January 8, 1924, in Paul, Idaho, to Edmond Earl Waddoups and Minerva Ireta Skinner Waddoups. Sylvia married George Allen August 31, 1943, in San Luis Obispo, California. Their marriage was solemnized on January 17, 1946, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They made their home in Blackfoot, where she worked as a griddle cook at the INEL. George preceded her in death on November 4, 1987. Sylvia then moved to Idaho Falls in 1997. Her family affectionately called her “Silver.” Sylvia’s talents and hobbies included crocheted baby dresses for granddaughters, baby quilts for all new babies in the family. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she graduated from the seminary program during high school. She served in various positions, including Cub Scout leader, primary teacher, visiting teacher, stake missionary, and in the genealogical extraction program. Survivors include: Son: Burleigh Ronald (Peggy) Allen of Boise, Idaho Son: Neil (Eja) Allen of Idaho Falls, Idaho Daughter: Janet (Tim) Willardson of Logan, Utah Daughter: Sandra (John) Braun of Island Park, Idaho 25 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild Sister: Glenna Waddoups Allen Sister-in-law: Wanda Waddoups Sister-in-law: Darlene Waddoups She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Oran and Billie; sisters, Earline Wilde, Melba Armstrong, Merle and Marion Waddoups, and a great grandson, Casey Hernandez. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Lee, Dr. Roisum, and the entire nursing staff of the 3rd floor at EIRMC. We would especially like to thank the friends and family at Lincoln Court Retirement Center for their care and kindness for the past few years. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, with her son, Neil Allen, officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at Wood East Side. Burial will be in Blackfoot-Grove City Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
