On June 16, 2021, the family of Sybil LaRae Schuldt said our final goodbye to our mom, grandmother and great grandmother.
Born to EmmaBell (Sherman) and Charles Boyack, Sybil's life story began in the small town of Arco, Idaho, on July 8, 1930. At the ripe age of five, she went on her first date to the movies. Her date just happened to not only be her best friend but also her Grandpa Sherman. As a young girl, her parents and older brother, Roy, enjoyed spending time together on picnics, fishing and an occasional winter sleigh ride. Sybil was only nine years old when her father passed away.
A few years later her mother married Victor Ellingford. Though the family lived in town, Victor had a farm outside of town where she and her brother would help out. She was very active in school and participated in school plays, glee club, the school paper and year book, sports and cheerleading. Coming from a musical family and with her mother as her teacher, Sybil learned to play the piano, but her real passion was singing and tap dancing, which she pursued throughout her life.
After graduating from Arco High School, Sybil left town and traveled by train to Washington DC where she spent two months with her former dance teach and 'second-mother' Ann Chapman. Upon her return home, she got ready to attend Idaho State University in Pocatello. The summer after a year at college, Sybil worked teaching dance lessons. It was also during this summer that she met her future husband. They became engaged after about nine months of courtship and a year later Sybil married Floyd Hansen. Shortly thereafter they added to their family with the birth of Gary then followed by Terri one year and a day later.
With the family growing, they eventually moved to Idaho Falls, where Gene and LeAnn entered the picture. Having her family complete, she dedicated her life to raising her children and making a happy home but their seven year marriage ended. After five years of being a single parent to four children, she married Richard Schuldt. Together they enjoyed going fishing and lots of softball games as Rich played on a local team. Sybil also continued in activities that gave her great joy, singing with Sweet Adaline's and tap dancing. She even won first place performing a tap dance on the Jubilee Cruise Ship. Sybil spent the final chapter of her life story living in Boise.
Her family was the most important thing in her life and we all knew it! She never had a negative thing to say about anyone, was always patient, extremely kind and giving and had a great quick wit! Sybil was our family's greatest joy. Though we will miss her every day, we can smile knowing she's singing with the angels in heaven.
Saying goodbye are her children, Gary Hansen, Terri (Bob) Wright, Gene (RoseMarie) Hansen, LeAnn (Bruce) Campbell, 11 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. Welcoming her home are both of her parents and stepfather, her husband Rich, brother Roy, granddaughter Makayla and twin grandsons, Benjamin and Brandon.
Family and friends will be gathering to celebrate her life at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, in Idaho Falls.
Sybil's family would like to express their deepest thanks to Grace Memory Care and All Care Health Solutions Hospice for the exceptional and tender care given to her and the grace they extended to us.
