Silas Carmen "Sy" Versage, 67, of Rigby, Idaho, passed away December 22, 2015, at his home. He was under the care of Encompass Hospice.
Sy was born July 6, 1948, in Bethesda, Maryland, to Frank T Versage and Frances A Seaman Versage. He grew up and attended schools in Garden Grove, California, and graduated from Rancho Alamitos High School.
Sy enlisted as a United States Marine during the Vietnam War. He received commendations for good conduct, rifle expert, meritorious conduct, and as a pistol expert. He also served in the U. S. Army. After the war, Sy was employed as a safety officer at the Idaho National Lab. He was also a firefighter and worked with HAZMAT in Rigby.
He spent twelve years in Idaho Falls before moving to Rigby, where he made his home with Vicki Ann Martindale Versage.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Civil Air Patrol. He enjoyed woodworking, travel, camping, four-wheeling, and reading.
Sy is survived by his loving partner, Vicki Versage of Rigby, ID;
step-daughter, Billie (Dan) Kemper of Keizer, OR;
step-daughter, Rhonna Woodie of Ririe, ID;
daughter, Sarena Dillard of NV;
daughter, Katie Versage of IL;
sister, Jeannie Satler of Colorado Springs, CO;
sister, Frances Dudley of Colorado Springs, CO;
sister, Marti (Terry) Hatch of Walla Walla, WA;
sister, Catherine (Vern) Price of Willard, UT.
and 6 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at Ririe Stake Center, 14061 North 130 East, in Ririe. Military Rites will be performed by the Jefferson County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
