SUSAN R. STIRLING
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Susan Roper Stirling, 51, of Idaho Falls,
died April 6, 2005, in Pocatello, following a lengthy illness.
Susan was born in Ogden, Utah, on March 8, 1954, to Bryce
V. And June Herrick Roper. The family moved to Pocatello in 1962. Sue attended
Washington School, Franklin Junior High, and graduated from Pocatello High
School in 1972. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Business from ISU in 1977.
During her working life, Sue was employed by Idaho First National Bank, First
Street Plumbing, Bateman-Hall Construction and Wheeler Electric. He also worked
for Melaleuca for a short time before her health completely failed.
Sue married Joseph A. Jimenez and they were later divorced.
On January 17, 1995, Sue married the love of her life, Bill Stirling, and
they enjoyed ten years together. Bill passed away on March 5, 2005.
Sue was endowed with exceptional musical talent and enjoyed
singing, playing the piano, guitar, and violin. She also participated in a
quilt guild and made lovely keepsakes for family members. Sue was especially
proud of a replica Civil War quilt she made for her nephew, Scott, whois a
Civil War enthusiast. She was a wonderful homemaker and an excellent cook.
She was renowned for her pie-making and was a wonderful hostess.
Sue was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints and served faithfully in many callings. She especially enjoyed her
work with the Young Women.
Sue was preceded in death by her Mother in 1999. Sue is survived
by her father and step-mother, Bryce and Bonnie Roper, of Pocatello, her twin
sister, Sally R. (Roger) Burrup and nephew Scott, of Little Rock, AK, Uncle
and Aunt, Dr. C. Neil (Cathy) Herrick, a stepson, Bob Stirling of Kimberly,
Idaho, and his daughters, Caprice, Elizabeth, Brittney and Alycia. As Sue
never had children of her own, she and Bill had a very special relationship
with her nephew, Scott. They enjoyed fishing and camping trips together while
Scott visited from Arkansas. Sue was very proud of Scott’s academic
and sports achievements.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April
9, 2005, at the Idaho Falls LDS Mountain View Ward, 1450 Mountain View Lane,
with Bishop Dale Madsen of the Idaho Falls LDS Westhill Ward officiating.
The family will visit with friends Friday from 7 to 8 p.m.
at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. In lieu of flowers, the family
suggests contributions to the LDS Church Perpetual Education Fund, c/o The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 50 East North Temple, Salt Lake
City, UT 84150.
Burial will be in the Ogden City Cemetery, 1875 Monroe Blvd.,
Ogden, UT, 84401, under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
