Susan Lynn Schaefer

Susan Lynn Schaefer, 66, of Idaho Falls, passed away December 8, 2020, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Susan was born January 31, 1954, in San Francisco, California, to E. Roger and Suzanne R. Barry Hibbard. She grew up in the Bay Area of California and attended the St. Lawrence the Martyr Catholic Girls’ School. She went on to obtain her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from San Jose State and Western Washington Universities. She became a Master Teacher and taught elementary school to hundreds of students over the years.

Susan married Steve Schaefer in Seattle, Washington. Together they raised two children, Johanna and Ben. They later relocated to Idaho Falls, Idaho. When Susan wasn’t being a mother or a teacher, she was enjoying her role as a Master Gardener. She was also an artist and was known to be very spiritual. She will be dearly missed.

Susan is survived by her loving husband, Steve; children, Johanna Ofstedal and Ben Schaefer; brother, Steve Hibbard; sisters, Mary Kaufman, Meg Kaufman, and Ann Grayson; and two grandchildren, Sophia and Peirson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Susanne.

Private family services will be held.
