Susan R. Wiswell Jones, 72, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 8, 2016, at her home. She was under the care of Abode Hospice.
Susan was born February 8, 1944, in Gooding, Idaho, to Allen Gerald Wiswell and Ester Isabelle Redeye Wiswell. She was the second child of four children. She was raised in Wendell, Idaho, and her family moved to Idaho Falls when she was fourteen. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1962. She also attended Stevens-Henager College for business school in Ogden, Utah.
On June 18, 1971, she married M. Craig Jones in Reno, Nevada. She has worked for a few different companies, starting with the Shupe Williams Candy Company and then the Defense Department, both located in Ogden, Utah. In 1968, she started a long career at the INL where she retired in 1999.
After retiring, she took up counted cross stitching and that became her passion, as evidenced by the number of grand champion and blue ribbons she received at the Eastern Idaho State Fair. Ten years ago, she took up the craft of quilting and won awards for those she entered in the fair. She had a ball roaming Phoenix, Arizona, for quilt and cross stitch shops. Susan loved to scour antique shops for Depression Glassware. She learned how to facet in Quartzite, Arizona, and silversmith in Yuma, Arizona. After both she and Craig retired, they traveled the USA in their motor home. In doing so, they discovered their love of Arizona and made a winter home together there and took up jeeping and became rock hounds. She was an avid golfer and served as the Working Woman’s Golf League President in Idaho Falls. Susan is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Craig Jones of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Guy Greenhalgh of Roy, UT; brother, Samuel (Nancy) Wiswell of Parker, CO; brother, Max Wiswell of Reno, NV; and grandson, Taylor Greenhalgh of Roy, UT. She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Ester Wiswell; step father, Buford Allen; and her sister, Nedra. The family would like to thank Abode Hospice for the loving care they provided to Susan. There will be no services at this time, but a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
