Susan Garcia

January 5, 2017. A gentle kind soul left us on a cold January day. Susan was born October 6, 1958, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Daniel H. Bates and Thelma Freeman Bates. Susan had health issues from the start, but never thought of herself as unlucky. She was an employee of FreshPak for 19 years. She was a care provider and companion to our mother as she dealt with her advancing years. Susan was always a champion for the poor underdog and always had time to be a good listener. Susan met and married her soul mate, Raul Garcia, on January 21, 1987. They were blessed with one son, Jason. He was always the most important person in their lives. Susan is survived by her husband, Raul; son, Jason (Jean) Garcia; granddaughter, Amelia, who definitely was the light of her life; three step grandchildren, Israel, Taya, and Jasmin; sisters, Carolyn (Bill) Garner and Darlene (John) Foster; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Bill, Labar, and Clay Bates. A gathering of family and friends will be held on a warm summer day, as requested by Susan. A line from Susan's favorite singer, Elvis Presley: "All my trials, Lord, soon will be over."
