Susan Elaine Call

December 11, 1942 — October 17, 2025

Idaho Falls

Susan Elaine Dobson Call, 82, of Idaho Falls, passed away October 17, 2025, at her home, surrounded by those she loved most. She was under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice.

Susan was born December 11, 1942, in Beloit, Wisconsin, to Evelyn June Dobson. She grew up and attended schools in Milwaukee with her mother and sister, Alice. In 1960, she graduated from West Division High School, and shortly thereafter, enlisted in the United States Army, serving as a Medical Corpsman.

On June 30, 1961, she married Elton Lynn Call in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Susan spent the next 18 years as a devoted military wife and mother, raising their daughters while living throughout the United States and the Pacific. When Elton retired from the Navy in 1979, the couple made their home in Idaho Falls where Susan would spend the next 46 years.

Susan was employed for many years as a controller at the Westbank Hotel. She cherished her time working near the river and often spent her lunch hours walking along the greenbelt, taking in the beauty of the falls and the community she proudly called home.

Throughout her life, Susan endured profound loss, having preceded in death all three of her children. Despite the heartbreak, she faced each tragedy with remarkable grace, gratitude, and faith, often expressing her assurance that she would one day be reunited with them. The passing of her husband and lifelong companion in 2021, just short of their 60th wedding anniversary, deeply affected her. Yet, she found comfort in envisioning the joyful reunion that awaited them in Heaven.

Susan was a constant source of comfort and strength, not only to her grandchildren, but also to her great-grandchildren and the nurturing force that held her family together. Her passing has left a deep, irreplaceable void in all of our lives. The only thing Susan may have loved more than her children were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She made sure each one knew how special they were to her, how loved, and how proud she was of them. No one will ever love us quite like she did.

Susan was an avid reader with a green thumb and an exceptional self-taught cook who loved hosting dinner parties and family gatherings--the bigger the better. She cherished the time spent with those she loved most, especially reminiscing and sharing stories of the past. She often expressed how blessed she felt to have married into such a large and loving family, finding lifelong friendships among her many brothers and sisters-in-law.

Susan is survived by her sister, Alice (Tom) Meyer of Ocala, FL; two granddaughters, Kim (Bryce) Threet of Idaho Falls, ID and Rosalie McGary of Willowick, OH; grandson, Jay (Sarah) Denisoff of Lake Stevens, WA; and 7 great-grandchildren, CJ Artyl, Halle Zachary, Emmett Felsted, Madison Suttle, Chevelle Threet, Kai Call, and Tyson McGary Jr.

She was preceded in death by her mother; husband; three daughters, Linda Crosland, Rebecca Call, and Rosalie Call; two grandchildren, Zacharey Call and Tyson McGary; and great-granddaughter, Hailee Joy.
