STEVEN L. HAMMOND
WEST VALLEY CITY, UT – Steven L. Hammond, 44, died Monday, January 21, 2002, at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, after a courageous lifelong battle with complications of Spina Bifida.
He was born October 6, 1957, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Wayne and Amelia Kingsford Hammond. Steve grew up in Iona, and was a graduate of Bonneville High School. He attended Brigham Young University.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served a full-time mission in Salt Lake City, Utah.
In 1985 he was married to Gaylene Rollins. They were later divorced.
At the time of his death, he was employed at Discover Financial Services where he had worked for many years. He enjoyed the company of many friends and co-workers. Steve enjoyed fishing and watching sports - especially baseball and his beloved New York Yankees.
Surviving are:Parents: Wayne & Amelia Hammond, Idaho FallsSister: Janice (Mel) Duehlmeier, Logandale, NV, Sister: Bonnie (Garth) Gunderson, Menan, ID, Sister: Lorie (John) Mitchell, Kaysville, UT,Brothers: Jim (Marcia) Hammond, Placentia, CABrother: Richard (Donette) Hammond, Middleton, ID along with many nieces and nephews.He was proceeded in death by his grandparents.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2002 at the Idaho Falls LDS Westview Ward, 2345 West 17th South.
The family will visit with friends on Friday from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the church.
