Steven Carey Barnes

Steven Carey Barnes, 64, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 29, 2024, at Rigby Lake Assisted Living. He was under the care of his loving family and Brio Hospice.

Steve was born June 22, 1959, in Fallon, Nevada, to Dean Leon Barnes and Angelina Edith Martin Barnes. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and graduated from Bonneville High School in 1977.

On September 30, 1978, he married Cynthia Jo Elliott in Idaho Falls. Steve and Cindy made their home in Idaho Falls where Steve worked as a Police Officer for the City of Idaho Falls.

He was a member of Watersprings Church. He enjoyed cars, car shows, bowling, golfing, fishing, camping, and watching grandchildren’s sports.

Steve is survived by his wife of 45 years, Cindy Barnes of Idaho Falls, ID; sons, Jeremy (Danielle) Barnes, and Mike (Rachel) Barnes, both of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Michael D Barnes of Carefree, AZ; sister, Shelley (Greg) Wray of Idaho Falls, ID; and grandchildren, Treyson, Tatum, and Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dean Barnes and Angelina Martin.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services, both visitations at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Iona Cemtery.
