Steven Asher

Steven Craig Asher, 56, of Iona, passed away November 19, 2014, at his home. Steven was born August 26, 1958, in Merced, California, to Frank Larue Asher and Corean Mary Mansell Asher. He grew up and attended area schools in Merced. Steven served in the U.S. Army, earning the ranking of Specialist 4. On April 16, 1988, he married Linda Sue Lankford Asher in Fresno, California. To this union were born three daughters, Jamie, Melissa, and Shannon. Steven and Linda moved to Iona, Idaho, on March 18, 2001, where Steven worked as a truck driver, and worked in construction. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. Steven is survived by his wife of 26 years, Linda Asher of Iona, ID; daughter, Jamie Marie (Tyler) Travis of Baker, MT; daughter, Melissa Ann Asher of Twin Falls, ID; daughter, Shannon Renee Asher of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Frank Asher of Washington, D.C.; sister, Karen Asher of Merced, CA; and two grandchildren; Preston and Madisyn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Corean Asher; and a sister, Lisa Asher. Memorial Services will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Friday, November 28, 2014, at the Iona City Building, 3548 North Main Street, Iona. Friends and family are invited, and food will be provided. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to www.giveforward.com, a memorial fund set up to help with funeral expenses.
