Don Stephen Brunt, 89, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 3, 2017, at Fairwinds-Sand Creek Retirement Community. Steve was born January 31, 1928, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Joseph Alfred Brunt and Fanny Gudmundsen Brunt. He grew up and attended schools in the area and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He also attended Brigham Young University. On August 27, 1954, he married Vonda Mae Strong in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. To this union were born four children: Michael, Kalli, Jana, and Christopher. Steve and Vonda made their home in Idaho Falls, where he worked as a weighmaster for the Idaho Transportation Department and for the State of Idaho Law Enforcement. He retired after 35 years of service. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings. As a youth, he served a full-time mission to New Zealand. Steve is survived by son, B. Mike (Christy) Brunt of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Kalli Jo (Charles) Paxton of Salt Lake City, UT; daughter, Jana Lee (Alan) Pyle of Arizona; son, Christopher Joseph Brunt of Idaho Falls, ID; 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Bert and Reba Strong; two brothers; and four sisters. At his request, private family services will be held.
