Sterling Tait Johnson was reunited with his Heavenly Father on June 26, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Sterling enjoyed riding his mountain bike, fishing, and camping with family. Most of all, he loved being on the boat on the Snake River yelling, “Fish on!” Sterling was a great man that had a heart of gold, and everyone loved him.
Sterling was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on May 16, 1988. He was the light of his dad’s life. Those two were inseparable, and he was his dad’s fishing partner from day one. Sterling was an entrepreneur at the early age of ten. He put a sign in his front yard that said “Bike Repair” without telling his dad. When his dad got home from work, there were at least ten bikes in his driveway. His dad thought, “What in the world?” Sterling fixed all those bikes, and when he was done, he said he was ready for bigger and better things. Not one of those bikes came back. To this day, he could change tires and tubes on a bike faster than we have ever seen. Sterling had a big heart. He always had a smile on his face no matter what he was going through.
Sterling became a father in December 2008. He was a proud father to Jeremiah Johnson. In 2010, he was a proud father to a beautiful baby girl, Serenity Johnson. He was very proud of his children.
Sterling is survived by his father, Trent Johnson; adopted mother, Christine Monroe; best friend, confidant, and brother, Taylor Daniel Johnson; sisters, Ashley Sylvia Johnson, Melissa (Matt) Kennedy, and Taylor Monroe; biological mother, Laurie Chapman; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Sterling was received into the loving arms of his loving grandmother, Nadine Tait Johnson. He will be dearly missed by his grandfather, Dean.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
