Stephen Purkey

STEPHEN PURKEY IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Stephen Albert Purkey, 47, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 2, 2006, at Idaho Falls Health and Rehab Center. He was born August 17, 1949, in Cedar City, Utah, to Carroll Albert Purkey and Ester Christine Johnson Purkey (now Harris). He grew up in Idaho Falls and attended schools here until he was 15, when the family moved to Palm Springs, California. He graduated from Palm Springs High School. He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. He returned home to Idaho Falls after being honorably discharged for his service. He was disabled and worked for Rogers Brothers for 9 years. He loved animals and music and also enjoyed actively supporting the Christian Children's Fund. Survivors include: Mother: Ester Harris, Idaho Falls, ID Sister: Susan Ridder, Riverside, CA and her family He was preceded in death by his father, a brother, Michael and a sister, Patricia. Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 7, 2006, at Fielding Memorial Park. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
