Stella Rardin

Stella Marie Thornley Rardin, 62, passed away in her sleep on February 28, 2016, at her home in Basalt, Idaho. Stella was born June 2, 1953, the fourth of six children to Kenneth and Stella Bright Thornley. Stella grew up in the Shelley and Woodville areas. She attended Shelley High School and graduated in 1971. Stella married James Rardin on May 7, 1971, in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. They resided in Basalt, Idaho, where they raised their two sons, Jason and Steven. She later helped raise her granddaughters, Keisha and Kyra. Stella worked for French’s, Pillsbury, Basic American, and most recently at Hard Times Quick Stop in Firth. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She spent her days serving others. She always had a kind word of encouragement and a concern for your well being. Family was everything to Stella. She made many memories with her family and friends on the sand dunes driving sandrails. Her life revolved around her granddaughters, Keisha and Kyra. They were the center of her universe. Stella is survived by her son, Jason A. Rardin of Basalt, ID; son, Steven B. (Brandy Lee) Rardin of Idaho Falls, ID; granddaughter, Keisha M. Rardin of Basalt, ID; granddaughter, Kyra K. Rardin of Shelley, ID; brother, Bob K. (Julie) Thornley of Shelley, ID; sister, Maxine B. Mower of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Mary Ann (Ray) Petersen of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Elaina (Raymond) Williams of Firth, ID; along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Rardin; and a brother, Rex Thornley. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2016, at the Basalt LDS Ward, 823 North 6758 East, with Bishop Park officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Basalt Cemetery.
