Stanton L. Somers - 08/27/2001 Stanton L. Somers - 08/27/2001 STANTON L. SOMERS IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Stanton Langlois Somers, 76, of Idaho Falls, died August 25, 2001, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center after suffering a heart attack. He was born February 7, 1925, at Rexburg, to Fred Lewis Somers and Maud Langlois Somers. He grew up in Idaho Falls and attended O. E. Bell Jr. High, Idaho Falls High School, Brigham Young University, the University of new Mexico, and Harvard University. He served as a Lieutenant in the U. S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He married Joy Margene Berntson December 28,1 947, at Idaho Falls. He worked as a Health Physics Technician and Trainer at the INEEL for 33 years. He retired in 1989. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed reading, gardening, fishing, and travel. Surviving are:Wife: Joy Somers, Idaho Falls, IDDaughter: Karen Somers, CABrother: Maynard J. [Alice] Somers, San Diego, CA 3 GrandchildrenHe was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Susan Fukumoto, and a brother, Hyrum Somers. Funeral Services will be at 12 Noon Wednesday, August 29, 2001, at the Idaho Falls LDS 22nd Ward, 1235 Juniper, with Bishop Wayne Christensen officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 to 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
