Stanley Dean Johnson, 85, of Idaho Falls, passed away January 12, 2017, at his home.
Stan was born July 17, 1931, in Oakland, California, to Albert Johnson and Henriette Cherry Johnson. He grew up and attended schools in San Francisco, California, before moving to Pocatello, Idaho, where he graduated from Pocatello High School. He also attended University of Utah, Idaho State University for his dual Bachelor’s Degrees in Art and Philosophy. He earned his Master’s in Art & Design at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California.
Stan served in the Unites States Army as a PFC during the Korean Conflict.
On October 27, 1957, he married Peggy Marie Apgood in Idaho Falls. To this union were born three children, Deidre, Bern, and Seneca. Their union was later solemnized in the Ogden, Utah, LDS Temple. Stan and Peggy made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Stan worked as a salesman in insurance, the audio-visual field, and art.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed art, fishing, design, sports, jazz music, traveling, cooking, and gardening.
Stan is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Peggy Johnson of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Deidre (David) Warden of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Bern Johnson of Jefferson City, MO; daughter, Seneca Johnson of London, England; 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Gathering will begin at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2017, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
