Sonja Smith

Sonja Mathys Smith, 84, of Idaho Falls, passed away on July 5, 2014, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. She was born February 23, 1930, in Solothurn, Switzerland to Otto Mathys, Sr. and Emma Schneider Mathys. On April 8, 1950, she married Everett D. Smith in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He preceded her in death on October 20, 2003. Sonja was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Survivors are: Daughter: Nola (David) Scalzi, Pollock Pines, CA Daughter: Joy Santos, South Lake Tahoe, CA Grandchildren: Yolanda Santos, Salt Lake City, UT; Elyse (Dan) Randles, Reno, NV; and Duran Quick, El Dorado Hills, CA Great Granddaughter; Brookelyn Quick, El Dorado Hills, CA She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Private family services will be held at a later date.
