Sonia Ellen Sprabeary

Sonia Ellen Sprabeary, 82, of Shelley, passed away February 5, 2023, after a brave fight with cancer.

Sonia is survived by her loving daughter, Terri Sprabeary of Idaho; son, Donald Sprabeary; her primary caretaker for seven years and never left her side; her sister, Terri Gargis of Glendale, AZ; and multiple grandchildren.

Sonia was born on November 16, 1940, in Auburn, California. She and her husband, Ed, have been long-time residents of Shelley, Idaho.

Sonia’s father, Charles Williams Mentzer, was a WWII Veteran. With her stepfather, Sonia traveled around the world and experienced many different cultures. She attended school in Japan for a period of time.

Sonia was known for her excellence in taxidermy workmanship. She was also a very successful and respected business woman. Sonia loved her summer home in the mountain area of Spencer where she was surrounded with the beauty of nature.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed; her daughter, Sheri; parents; and two brothers.

Services will be held at a later date.
