Shirley Williams

Biography

Shirley Williams, 65, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2017, from injuries sustained in a tragic vehicle accident outside of Idaho Falls. Shirley was born April 1, 1952, in Paso Robles, California. She attended Cal Poly State University SLO. After graduating Cal Poly, she taught school in a one-room schoolhouse in Polaris, Montana. In Montana, she met the love of her life, Dr. Tom Williams. The two were married in Paso Robles, California, in 1977. She managed their veterinary practice in Dillon, Montana, for over 20 years. Shirley and Tom moved to Idaho Falls in 2004, and she became a full-time roper and part-time farmer. But her favorite job was being a mom to her daughter, Tammy, and a "Momo" to her grandsons, Tristan and Grant. Shirley’s two main passions in life were her family and rodeo. As a child in California, she competed in countless rodeos and horse shows. She was a member of the rodeo team at Cal Poly. After moving to Dillon, she enjoyed roping with Tom. She got to pass on the love of rodeo to Tammy and was an enthusiastic high school and college rodeo mom for many years. After Tammy graduated college and was done rodeoing, Shirley was back in the arena again with seasoned horses. She roped every week with her "roping friends" in Idaho. They roped a lot of calves, had even more laughs and a lot of good times. Shirley was a friend to everyone she met and always had a kind word, a warm smile and a word of encouragement. Shirley is survived by her husband, Tom of Idaho Falls; daughter, Tammy (Jason) Neal of Smyer, TX; grandsons, Tristan and Grant; sister, Dorothy (John) Seymour of Dillon, MT; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Grant and Flossie Anderson. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 3, 2017, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, with Pastor Gary Smith officiating. A visitation will be held Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and Monday 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services, both visitations at Wood East Side. Burial will be in Shandon Cemetery in Shandon, California. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in California. Contributions in memory of Shirley can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
