Shirley Lynell (Volmer) Dees

Shirley Lynell Dees, 87, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 22, 2023, at MorningStar Senior Living Center. She was under the care of Enhabit Hospice.

Shirley was born November 4, 1935, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to John Rudolph Volmer and Velma Catherine Goldman Volmer. She grew up and attended schools in Ammon and graduated from Bonneville High School. She also attended Ricks College.

On April 1, 1959, she married Eldon G. Dees in Ammon, Idaho. Shirley and Eldon made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Shirley was a homemaker and mother.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, camping, music, and Scouting.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Aneda (Huie) Hazelett of Rock Spring, WY; daughter, Lorie (Sam) Dye of Rigby, ID; daughter, Nancy (Chuck) Bobak of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Craig (Heidi) Dees of Rexburg, ID; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers, Loren Volmer and Lawrence Volmer, and a baby sister.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, with Bishop Timothy Ross officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery.
