SHIRLEY SMITH Click here to view Shirley's Video Tribute IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Shirley Jean Smith, 80, of Idaho Falls, died May 23, 2010, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Shirley was born July 23, 1929, in Ogden, Utah, to Theodore William Banford and Thelma Elizabeth Byrne Banford. Her mother later married Vern P. Arnold. Shirley attended schools in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School. She married George L. Smith on March 26, 1948, in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was solemnized in 1952 in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. Shirley was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous callings. Shirley enjoyed cooking and sewing, and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include: Husband: George L. Smith, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Cheryl (Paul) Olsen, Ucon, ID Daughter: Linda (Mike) Howard, Idaho Falls, ID Son: Brian (Laura) Smith, Orem, UT Son: Brent (Terri) Smith, Idaho Falls, ID Son: Bruce (Carie) Smith, Idaho Falls, ID 26 Grandchildren and 42 Great Grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Leland Vern Arnold; grandson, Jerry Olsen; and great grandson, Ethan Howard. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 27, 2010 at the Idaho Falls LDS Pioneer Ward, 2020 South Charlotte Drive, with Bishop Todd A. Shepherd officiating. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, and on Thursday from 12 to 12:45 p.m. at the church prior to services.
